Apple Watch 2 Release Date, Rumors: Next-Gen Smartwatch To Feature A Camera?
Apple Watch 2 may feature a camera that can be planted anywhere on the device, according to the new round of rumors that has surfaced recently.
Patently Apple has released the report about Apple applying for a patent for a future camera on the wearable device.
The compact digital camera will reportedly include a CMOS sensor and lenses, "along with control logic operable to use the imaging components to capture and store still and/or video images."
In other embodiments, Apple notes that "the camera can be disposed on the front surface of Apple Watch face to capture images of the user" - being the ultimate selfie camera. Zero, one, or more cameras can be provided, depending on implementation.
Also, the patent seems to suggest that the camera can be transferred from the top or the edge of the device. However, it would be prudent to take this report as a grain of salt as it's not confirmed that the Apple Watch 2 will be equipped with a camera.
The patent also shows more buttons whose functionality nobody really knows about for now.
The current Apple Watch only has the Crown button and another main button below it. The patent application, however, includes two new buttons on the left side of the device, said the report. Again, there's no indication that they would already be included in the Apple Watch 2.
Meanwhile, there's no news yet on the release date for the Apple Watch 2 despite earlier rumors that it will be launched during the WWDC 2016.
