Apple TV 360-Degree Videos App Is A First In Streaming Media Boxes

Televisions are changing and Apple joins the bandwagon in welcoming apps as the future of TV which may now play 360-degree videos.

Littstar, a global network dedicated  to virtual reality, launched its immersive viewing App for the new Apple TV on Dec. 22.

The advancement, which is the first of its kind in media streaming boxes, is also on Android, iOS and the Gear VR of Samsung. This will be the first time the app will become available to users of Apple TV.

Accessible for free, the app features news, sports, technology, and lifestyle contents from Discovery, Disney, Mountain Dew, National Geographic, PBS, and Red Bull

Viewers may swipe around on Siri Remote's glass trackpad to pan around the 360-degree video. Swiping left brings the viewing angle right, right for left, down for up, and up for down. The remote is easy-to-use and intuitive.

As of the moment, not many 360-degree video contents come in high resolution, but things are expected to get better as the fad becomes a norm.

"Apple TV users can download the Littlstar app for free to gain access to content from brands such as Showtime, Disney, Discovery, PBS, Mountain Dew, National Geographic and Red Bull," said Littlstar on its official blog.

Launched in 2014, Littlstar is now home to a wide array of 360-degree videos. While it accepts video content from users, the company also makes use of curated videos by partnering with huge names in the industry.
