Apple OS X 10.10.3 News: New Update Features Revamped Photo App, Emoji, & More

Apple has released the most recent and final version of OS X 10.10.3, which is the latest major update for OS X Yosemite.

This update was first made available to the public in a beta version in early March, and its official release is about three months after the release of OS X 10.10.2.

One of the most important features in the update is the new Photos app, which is a replacement for iPhoto, the photo app that has been included with the iLife suite for years.

It also replaces Aperture, the pro photo editing app. Photos is a photo viewing and editing app, and it will be automatically installed once Apple users update to 10.10.3.

According to Arstechnica, "Neither iPhoto nor Aperture will receive further updates from Apple after today...We looked at an early Photos beta back in February and came away mostly impressed by its features and speed, at least relative to iPhoto."

Those users who already have photo libraries in iPhoto and Aperture will be able to import them to Photos. The new update also includes some small feature updates and bug fixes. It also includes new extra emoji characters.

The picker has been updated to include more diverse emojis with different skin tones and iOS 8.3 includes support for these new emojis as well. The update also includes APIs for the new "force click" mouse pads included in the new MacBook.

Developers can use the APIs to support force click in their own apps. Other issues that the update offers fixes for are mostly related to Safari and wireless performance.

For those that may not know, 10.10. 3 is available through the App Store's software update tab.
