Apple Online TV Service News, Rumors: Tech Titan to Roll Out New TV Service in the Fall?

Apple will try and set a tone for other technology companies by getting into the TV industry. According to The Wall Street Journal, the company is in the works to making its own online TV service.

A variety of sources, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Journal that Apple is looking to offer a small bundle of TV networks this offer: 25 channels with broadcasters such as ABC, CBS and Fox, would be available on all Apple iOS devices including iPhones, iPads and Apple TV box sets.

Apple already has a lot of companies wanting to work with them, but insider sources say that they are also talking to Walt Disney Co, CBS Corp and Twenty-First Century Fox Inc. to help with the service. This would leave smaller networks, that are usually associated with cable, out of the running for a partnership with Apple.

According to Reuters, the price that Apple wants the new service to be at would be about $30 to $40 a month. The technology giant wants to unveil it during the summer and launch the service in the fall.

In order to make this a reality, Apple is partnering up with Comcast. The two companies had talked about an online TV service last year and it looks like they are planning on following through with their discussions.

On a side note, an Apple-owned online TV service would not include channels such as USA and Bravo from NBC Universal; the two companies had a falling out a while back.

This isn't the first time Apple has seen the limelight when it comes to online TV services. A couple of weeks ago, the company announced that with would be partnering with HBO to help launch their $14.99 streaming service, HBO Now.
