Apple iWatch Release Date News: CEO Tim Cook Confirms April Launch Window

In September 2014, Apple CEO Tim Cook had assured fans that the much-anticipated Apple Watch would be launched in early 2015. However, there was no official news regarding the wearable device's launch since then. Latest reports say that this uncertainty is somewhat over, as Tim Cook has finally announced that the company plans to release the gadget in April.

However, according to Christian Today, Apple CEO still refused to spell out the precise release date of the maiden wearable device from the Cupertino-based tech titan. The report quotes Full Time Whistle, which quoted Tim Cook as saying that he not only wore the Apple Watch, but was also satisfied with the results. He is also reported to have said that the development of the device was progressing on schedule.

Though Apple introduced the smartwatch alongside the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus in September 2014, some time back, there were reports that the company was facing problems with the components of the device and was, therefore, forced to postpone its release.

Earlier, Ming Chi Kuo, an analyst with KGI Securities whose predictions regarding Apple product releases are considered to be reliable, had said that the Apple Watch would be ready for shipping by March. He further predicted that 2.8 million units of the wearable device will be sold in its first month alone.

Kuo also claimed that Apple would organize a special event before the much-awaited unveiling, wherein Apple will reveal the details regarding the features and pricing of the Apple Watch.

Already the company has introduced three variants of the device. One model is called the Apple Watch, while another has been dubbed as the Apple Watch Sport. The third variant is named Apple Watch Edition, which will be the most expensive among the three as it will come in a 18-karat gold case.

The Sport collection will come in lightweight anodized aluminum, while the standard Apple Watch will have a stainless steel case.
