Apple iWatch Global Pre-orders News, Rumors: Analyst Says Apple Watch Total Pre-orders Cross 2.3 Million Mark
Even as Apple Inc. is quiet about the official numbers of Apple Watch preorders, various research firms and analysts have been coming out with different estimates and guesses. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, whose predictions regarding Apple products have come true in the past, has come out with the most recent estimates. According to Kuo, the global pre-orders for Apple Watch have crossed the 2.3 million mark.
IB Times reports that a research note by Kuo obtained by MacRumors recently read, "We estimate production of Apple Watch around 2.3mn units in March-May."
Among the three different editions of the Apple Watch, Kuo is of the view that the Apple Watch Sport, stainless steel Apple Watch as well as the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition will comprise 85 percent, 15 percent and below one percent of the entire pre-orders respectively.
If these estimates are to be believed, the Cupertino-based tech giant will be required to manufacture a little under a million Apple Watch units every month. However, production could reach 2 to 3 million units per month by June, absent of any bottlenecks.
On the other hand, market research firm Slice Intelligence collected e-receipt date of the U.S. pre-orders collected from a group of two million shoppers on Friday that estimates the pre-orders to be roughly around 957,000 units. In case either the estimates of Kuo or Slice turn out to be correct, even before the Apple Watch is available in the stores, Apple has already become one of the largest smart watch manufacturers in the industry.
Canalys estimates that Apple even seems to have blown past the 720,000 Android Wear devices sold in 2014.
