Apple iPhone 7 Release Date & Specs Rumors: Force Touch Technology or iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, & 6c Devices?
Little has been disclosed so far about the Apple event that's set for September aside from the release of the new Apple devices speculated to be the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6c. However, recent rumors say that Apple may just be replacing the S or the S Plus model with an iPhone 7 instead.
According to sources for MacRumors, KGI securities Ming-Chu Kou claims that the future iPhone streamlines FPC-made Force Touch sensor under the backlight because of this Apple may just jump up to a higher model rather than tracing the 6th from the flagship phone to the C version.
More claims from the Taiwanese Analyst say that it will have the Force Touch sensor which is an improved hardware that could monitor finger contact and determine the pressure upon pressing the screen.
"We believe that iPhone's Force Touch sensor doesn't directly detect pressure applied by fingers. Instead, It monitors the contact area on which the finger touches the screen to decide how big the pressure is," Ming-Chu Kou says on MacRumors, "There are two possible structural designs for the Force Touch from a technology viewpoint. The Force Touch sensor can either be placed between the cover lens and In-cell touch panel or under the In-cell touch panel's backlight. In the first position, the technological challenge lies with how to produce the transparent Force Touch sensor; in the second position, the challenge is how to reduce signal interference from in-cell touch panel. Our understanding of technology is that producing a transparent Force Touch sensor is more difficult, so the chances are the new iPhone this year will opt for the second position."
There is still uncertainty with the new Force Touch technology for iPhones especially for part suppliers for the device. However, the good side is that the user experience will be improved, Kuo added.
Despite the current trend that the iPhone 6 has been made into a large phone or in other words a "phablet," iPhone 7 may sport a 4.5-5.5 inch screen emphasizing more on the new Force Touch technology into the market.
