Apple iOS 8 Problems News: Tech Titan Sued for 'Shortchanged' iPhone Storage

New reports are claiming that Apple is under fire yet again, for another disappointing iOS update. This week, a class action lawsuit was filed over claims that the new version of iOS 8 eats up over 20% of an iPhone's storage space.

Apple had not advertised the space that the update required, and so iOS 8 is actually preventing users from installing applications that they need or want. Plaintiffs Paul Orshan and Christopher Endara were displeased that Apple was not transparent with its customers and are now suing the company for their negligence.

Orshan and Endara registered the complaint on December 30th with the following statement:
"We feel that there are a substantial number of Apple consumers that have been shortchanged, and we'll be pursuing the claims vigorously."

William Anderson is the attorney who will be representing the suing party in the New Year. He states that the disclaimer that reveals the lost amount of storage space was hidden. Orshan and Endara attest that Apple "didn't do enough to make that clear to consumers" on purpose. They believe this deceit was part of the iPhone company's strategy to convince people to increase their mobile storage with iCloud subscriptions.

However, the accusation may be difficult to hold up in court. iOS 8 synchronizes data between devices and iCloud so that users' online storage is easily organized. Since the iCloud drive does not actually add storage space to Apple devices, it will be hard to prove that Apple is using the subscriptions for an ulterior motive.

The accusing party will most likely refer to the consumer protection laws in order to obtain compensation from the company. On that note, Apple has not made any public statements regarding the lawsuit.
