Apple iOS 8.3 News: New Update to Have Password Settings & ‘Hey Siri’ Speakerphone Support
The next update of Apple's iOS 8, which powers the Cupertino-based tech titan's iPhones and iPads, is expected to be packed with lots of changes and upgrades. In addition, the upcoming iOS 8.3 update will also include fixes that will eliminate some problems in the existing edition of the operating system.
IB Times reports that one such change is likely to happen within the App Store and iTunes. Apple has included a "Password Settings" option in a beta version of iOS 8.3, which enables allows users to decide how often they want the company to ask for a password or Touch ID fingerprint scan. The present version of Apple's mobile operating system, IOS 8.2, makes is necessary for users to enter their passwords or confirm purchases through the Touch ID fingerprint reader whenever they make a purchase, irrespective of whether it is free or not.
In fact, the "Password Settings" toggle will let users to opt for sidestepping this feature for all free apps and content.
It is also expected that the manner in which iOS deals with phone calls placed through "Hey Siri - the hands-free voice activated assistant, is likely to undergo modifications in the upcoming iOS 8.3. The latest update will allow users to place a call with speakerphone activated by command. The present iOS version requires users to manually adjust their speakerphone after they have placed a call through Siri.
Apart from the above-mentioned modifications, iOS 8.3 will also include wireless support for CarPlay, diverse emojis, more Siri languages, support for Google account two-factor authentication, as well as Apple Pay support in China.
While Apple generally employs developers in its paid membership program for beta testing versions of iOS, the Cupertino-based tech company has also procured the help of a few users to eliminate bugs before the final release of the OS update. Even as the testing continues, it is still not certain as to when Apple will actually release iOS 8.3 for the public.
Meanwhile, there are reports that the tech company is currently working on iOS 9, which is likely to concentrate on fixing bug and optimization.
