Apple iCloud News: iWork for iCloud Is Now More Accessible - No Longer Needs Mac, iPhone, or iPad to Run
Apple announced the app iWork for iCloud will no longer need an Apple device like the Mac, iPhone or iPad in order to run it.
While user no longer have to have an Apple device, the use of an Apple ID is still required, according to Geeky Gadgets. Signing up for an Apple ID is still free, and the ID will work with other devices that are not of the Apple brands. The company decided to release the app as an accessible service on multiple platforms, similar to Google Docs.
iWork for iCloud collaborated its three apps Pages, Number and Keynote a couple of years ago. For those who are unfamiliar with Apple products, Pages is a design space to create a more appealing style to basic documents like letters and flyers. Numbers is a an app that helps users with spreadsheet design and simplicity. Last, Keynote helps create presentations for any occasion.
iWork for iCloud has been free to Apple users since 2013, and the service used to have a lot of compatibility problems. Said Rich McCormick from The Verge, "The three apps have traditionally been seen as less feature-rich than the programs in Google's Drive and Microsoft's Office suites, but by making iWork truly multi-platform as it also makes iCloud itself easier to use on different operating systems, Apple is showing that it wants to challenge the market leaders."
The service for using all three apps on iWork for iCloud is still in the beta process but the decision to make the service available to all is one to follow.
