Apple iCar News, Rumors: Self-Driving Car Production to Start by 2020?

Apple Inc, along with its exquisite range of digital devices, is said to be working on an automated car and pushing its team to begin production of an electric vehicle as early as 2020, according to Bloomberg.

The company is said to be pushing a team of about 200 people for the production of the cars. According to Reuters, Apple might as well decide to scrap its car-making effort, or delay it, if executives grow unhappy with its progress.

While Apple is geared up affordable vehicles, the competition rough, since Tesla is also planning on releasing a new and affordable electric car by 2017.

In other news, Apple is offering Tesla's workers $250,000 signing bonuses and a 60 percent salary increase to jump ship, as told by the CEO Elon Musk, according to Bloomberg,

Apple is poaching workers not just from Tesla but from other companies as well. Reportedly, an electric-car battery maker A123 Systems has sued Apple for poaching top engineers to build a large-scale battery division, according to a court filing that offered further evidence that the iPhone maker may be developing a car, according to First Post.

With around five to seven years until their deadline, Apple has become quite the competition for both Tesla Motors Inc. and General Motors Co. All the companies are planning to release cars that can cover an average of 200 miles on a single charge and cost less than $40,000.
