Apple 'Error 53' Lawsuit: Apple Faces Class Action Suit Over iPhone's Code, 'It's a Reckless Policy' According To Lawyers?
Apple has been facing controversies over the "Error 53" code which enormously affected iPhone 6s handsets. According to the latest report, lawyers will unite to ponder a class action suit against the giant tech company.
Law firm Pfau Cochran Vertetis Amala (PCVA) has assembled a group of attorneys as a result of the faulty error, and is planning to sue Apple because of the "reckless policy" that the giant tech company pushes to the consumers.
"We believe Apple may be intentionally forcing users to use their repair services, which cost much more than most third-party repair shops," as stated on the law firm's website. "There is incentive for Apple to keep end users from finding alternative methods to fix their products."
Apple wants iPhone 6s users to contact their support in case their device would be affected. As Guardian reports, consumers in the UK are "forced" to pay an additional £236 in official Apple stores just so they can use their mobile devices in good condition once again. Nonetheless, their handsets will be useless.
This policy has been strongly opposed by some. One iPhone user expressed disappointment towards the company, saying, "Show me where, in consumer law, the vendor has the right to render inoperable the hardware you just bought."
Notably, the latest Mobile OS, iOS 9, is set to update iPhone 6s, but the "Error 53" code will suddenly pop up if the mobile device has been repaired by a third-party company, or if the Touch ID fingerprint recognition or home button is not original.
The error will also show as well if the owner simply breaks the handset by accident, or come after weeks or months before the software disables the phone through automatic update.
Apple has yet to address the concerns. However, the company insisted that a customer should contact Apple support if they encounter "Error 53" on their iPhone.
