Apple Car News Update, Project Titan: Company Not Giving Up On Dream?

There has been a lot of talk in the news about the Apple car, dubbed Project Titan, and how it could be the next big thing in self-driving vehicles or electric vehicles, whichever rumor is correct.

Despite the setbacks, such as laying off a number of workers and rebooting the whole Apple car project, the news reports coming out seem to suggest that the company is not ditching Project Titan.

In fact, according to the Financial Times, Apple is negotiating with McLaren and absorbing its technology to improve its iCar project. At this point, it's not clear if its' buyout or technology transfer. Although known for its supercars, McLaren is actually a major player in electronics and data center optimization through its Applied Technologies Group.

But then again, there's this news report about the Apple car called Project Titan as being in the front and center of the company's innovation endeavors.

The report said that the facility of Apple in Silicon Valley is masked in secrecy and workers are asked to sign confidentiality agreement to prevent a leak.

Apple CEO did make a bold pronouncement last year when he said that there's going to be "significant changes in the automobile industry over the next several years with electrification and autonomous driving."

Again, all these news reports about the Apple car and Project Titan have not been confirmed by the always secretive company. There's no way of knowing whether or not Apple is really developing a autonomous vehicle like the Tesla, or just a data center that can be integrated in different cars.
