Apple 13-inch Retina Macbook Pro Issues, News: Users Plagued with OS Lag and Battery Drain
Many users of the newly released 13 inch Retina Macbook Pro are upset with some unusual occurrences on the device especially the interface's lag and rapid battery drain related to OS X Yosemite.
Frustrated users flocked to MacRumors about the notebook being slow to react when selecting on mission control, opening applications on the menu dock, resizing, and scrolling webpages. A MacRumor forum-goer posted a detailed experience.
"The problem is present almost everywhere: in mission control (fps drops to 2-3), opening the Applications-menu from Dock (fps 2-3), launchpad, resizing windows and scrolling web pages (mild to major lag depending on the page). I googled it and it seems that many others are also experiencing this (just google 'retina macbook pro ui lag')," wrote the user.
Another user purportedly experienced the same thing and found that resetting the PRAM would only be a temporary solution.
"Figured I'd provide a final update: The PRAM reset fixed the problem for a few hours and then it promptly returned, even on a fresh install of both the 10.3 beta and the 10.2 stock with no 3rd party programs running well after the housekeeping processes completed," he or she recounted, "When using an external 1080p monitor, I experienced display lag so bad on mission control and spaces that it prevented me from using the laptop efficiently, which is unacceptable IMO for a brand new laptop."
Meanwhile, despite the promised up to 12 hours of battery capacity, the device has also been reported to have rapid battery drain below 8 hours with moderate usage from just browsing to increasing device brightness.
On that note, Apple has yet to release their side of the story on a fix for these issues.
