'Ant-Man' Spoilers, News: A Sequel Will Feature The Wasp?
The premiere of Marvel's smallest Avenger is set to arrive in the next couple weeks and it appears that the studio may already be preparing themselves for a sequel.
Under Marvel's long slate of movies to be released in the next couple years, a sequel to 'Ant-Man' hasn't been listed, and that has been revealed to only be a go if the first film does well. If the film follows the trend of any of the other previous Marvel movies, then it should have nothing to worry about.
At a recent press conference Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed his potential plans for a potential 'Ant-Man' sequel. It has been revealed to largely feature the involvement of the rumored Wasp character. GeekTyrant reports:
"In Ant-Man, there's a brief flashback scene featuring the character of Janet Van Dyne as The Wasp in action. Michael Douglas' Hank Pym explains that while he was still operating as Ant-Man back in the day, Janet would accompany him on some missions, but one mission went bad: Janet heroically saved the day by shrinking down even further than normal in order to stop a rogue missile, but in the process, she was lost in the quantum realm - a place where all sense of time and reality cease to exist as you continue to shrink endlessly. Pym is haunted by this, and it's a big part of why he doesn't want his daughter Hope (Evangeline Lilly) to don the Ant-Man suit herself, leading to him reaching out to Rudd's Scott Lang character instead."
When Feige was asked if we would see more of the Janet Van Dyne character in future films he answers:
"If we get to tell more stories, we have stories with her in them, yes."
This affirms that we can all bet on the character reappearing in the franchise in some kind of capacity, however Feige is just waiting on the return of the movie.
'Ant-Man' arrives in theaters July 17.
