'Ant-Man' Prequel News: Director Peyton Reed Says Nw Movie wll Tell Hank Pym’s Story

Director Peyton Reed has said that he wound now only love to do a sequel to 'Ant-Man,' but also a prequel to the superhero film based on the characters of Marvel Comics. It is understood that Reed has developed a special liking for 'Ant-Man' characters, particularly Hank Pym, and would want to narrate the story of Pym in a prelude.

According to a report in IB Times, in a recent interview with Comicbook, Reed said, "Listen, if we were lucky enough to be able to do a sequel or even a prequel, I'd be way into it. I've really fallen in love with these characters. I was always in love with the characters in the comic book world but there's a lot of story to tell with Hank Pym."

In Marvel comics, Pym is depicted as a scientist who transforms into Ant-Man and acquired the power to shrink himself to an insect's size. Ant-Man is also said to be a founding member of the Avengers and, alongside his partner Janet Van Dyne (the Wasp), he takes over various identities like Yellowjacket, Giant-Man and Goliath.

Ant-Man was first seen in 'The Man in the Ant Hill,' where the character is depicted as one who tests the shrinking technology and has insects and ants chasing him. The character has been jointly created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby.

In 'Ant-Man,' Michael Douglas will be playing the role of Pym. He will be seen as the mentor to thief Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), who will assist Pym in safeguarding the Ant-Man technology. According to reports, Douglas was excited when he was offered the role. The prospect of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe was extremely thrilling for him, he had said.

Talking to Screen Rant, Douglas said, "I just wanted to do one of these pics, you know. Just, I've never done, you know, my entire career is a lot of movies that have just been contemporary stories. So, this to me was just the excitement of saying 'Hey, this is great. I want to get into the Marvel world,' you know. I want to taste the Kool-Aid."

'Ant-Man' will be released on July 17.
