'Ant-Man' Plot Spoilers, News: Wasp Character Confirmed to Appear
'Ant-Man' fans that have been speculating the appearance of the titular character Wasp in the upcoming film can now rest assured that the heroine will indeed make a cameo.
This was confirmed by Marvel President Kevin Feige on the set of the movie, telling Cinema Blend that "Wasp will in fact have a role to play."
He goes on to even say that her inclusion in the movie will be a huge component between Hank Pym and his daughter Hope Van Dyne.
"It factors in in a number of spoilerish ways, but we will see Janet Van Dyne in action in this film, and part of sort of what happened to her - and then we will understand why that is the reason that [Hank] doesn't want his daughter to follow in those footsteps," Feige states.
Being careful not to drop any potential spoilers, he draws on another overarching theme in the movie.
"Another very logical question in the movie is 'Why are you hiring this ex-con to put on your suit and do this?'," Feige explains. "The answer is because he has abilities in cracking security networks and in pulling off heists that nobody else has, which is really why he has to do it, but Hope is infinitely more capable of actually being a superhero in the beginning of this film, and we learn sort of, that's ultimately when Hank reveals for the first time, to the audience and even the first time to Hope, what actually happened in the past, and why he's so nervous about putting on that suit."
The Marvel President also later implies that this could mean Hope Van Dyne receives a suit of her own at some point, making her the next generation Wasp.
'Ant-Man' heads into theaters July 17.
