'Ant-Man' News: Peyton Reed Interested In Making Prequel Film
Coming full off the steam of the impending release of his film 'Ant-Man,' director Peyton Reed hasn't been bashful with speaking on continuing on with the franchise with a possible sequel.
"If we're fortunate enough to do another 'Ant-Man' movie, I would love to do it," Reed said in a recent interview with Variety.
The director has also recently expressed his interest in also doing a prequel film for 'Ant-Man' centering on the Hank Pym character. In the early comics, Hank is the original creator and Ant-Man hero. Reed believes that there is a lot more they could do with the character that wasn't embellished in his original film.
"Listen, if we were lucky enough to be able to do a sequel or a prequel, I'd be way into it," Reed told ComicBook.com. "I've really fallen in love with these characters. I was always in love with the characters in the comic book world, but there's a lot of story to tell with Hank Pym."
Reed also reveals that he's been a fan of the character since his debut in the comics in the 60's.
"Growing up reading comics in the late '60s, early '70s, as a really young kid, he's one of the defining characters in the Marvel Comics universe [to me]," Reed told Marvel. " Hank Pym is one of the most compelling characters in the Marvel comics world."
Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige recently stated that they currently may have ideas of where they would take an 'Ant-Man' sequel, however they are waiting to see how well it does its opening week before making any further plans.
'Ant-Man' comes into theaters on July 17.
