'Ant-Man' News: Kevin Feige Talks Evangeline Lilly Suiting Up as the Wasp
The ending of 'Ant-Man' inexplicably left the door open for actress Evangeline Lilly to suit up as the Wasp superhero in the foreseeable future. While this reference has excited fans, they are still eager to know exactly when they can see this iteration of the Hope Van Dyne character.
In an interview with Slash Film, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige attempted to answer this question, however he seemingly doesn't quite know himself.
"It's a good question, and it will certainly be in phase three," he said. "Where exactly in phase three I'm not sure, but it won't be in Civil War."
While this news may disappoint a lot of fans, Feige responds with a legitimate reason as to why the Wasp character can't work in the highly anticipated 'Civil War' film.
"She was included in early versions of Civil War but there are so many characters in Civil War that we didn't want to do her a disservice, like she flies in, 'I've got the costume now', and she flies out," Feige continues. "With Ant-Man, and I'm not saying that's what Ant-Man does in the movie, but we already know him, we've already seen him. We haven't seen her as Wasp and we don't want to rob the opportunity of seeing her in the outfit for at least almost the first time, and seeing her dynamic with Scott in a way it could play out, so we're saving it. But its going to be in Phase three for sure."
While Lilly is most likely to be able to suit up in an 'Ant-Man' sequel, this project hasn't yet been confirmed. The opening weekend of the film did decent, but perhaps not as well as Marvel would need it to to assure a sequel.
