Anne Meara Death News: Actor Ben Stiller's Mother Dies at the Age of 85
Well known Actress and comedian, Anne Meara, has passed away at the age of 85 years old. She is best known as the mother of actor and comedian Ben Stiller, and wife of actor and comedian, Jerry Stiller.
Ben Stiller and Jerry Stiller have said that Meara died on Saturday, but have made no further comments about the details of the actress' death.
On Sunday, the Stiller family released a statement to The Associated Press, which described Jerry Stiller as Meara's "husband and partner in life".
The statement goes on to say that the couple have been married for a long time and have been colleagues for even longer. "The two were married for 61 years and worked together almost as long," says the statement.
The couple performed on The Ed Sullivan Show, as Stiller and Meara, and appeared on many other programs throughout the 1960s. While their double act shot them to stardom, the pair began to work separately come the 1970s.
Meara has also made appearances in dozens of movies and television shows, including All My Children and The King of Queens, both of which she had recurring roles on.
She received several Emmy nominations throughout her lifetime including two for a supporting role on Archie Bunker's Place and in legal drama Kate McShane.
Meara was born in Brooklyn in 1929, and met Jerry Stiller when she was still and aspiring actress in New York at 23 years of age, during a castign call in 1953.
Meara is survived by her son, Ben Stiller, her Daughter, Amy, her husband Jerry Stiller, and many grandchildren
