Angelina Jolie Pitt News: Actress & Director Pens Op-Ed About Syrian Refugee Crisis

Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie Pitt is not only known to be a good actress in her professional career but also because of her humanitarian efforts for years now. Just recently, Jolie's Op-Ed article regarding the current Syrian refugee crisis was published in the U.K.'s The Times after her previous Opinion articles for New York Times back in January and in 2013.

It is much known that Jolie is very much involved in humanitarian causes and once again, Jolie shows to the world that she uses just every opportunity to try and make a change and her journalistic skills might just push people even more to act and reach out to Syrian refugees.

Jolie titled her latest Op-Ed with "Don't blame refugees for seeking a better life" and was co-written by Arminka Helic which was published just last Tuesday where she wrote, "The Syria conflict has created a wave of human suffering that has rolled out across the region and now reached the shores of Europe. Syrians are fleeing barrel bombs, chemical weapons, rape and massacres. Their country has become a killing field."

Jolie apparently wanted to bring awareness as to what is currently happening in the said struggling country and how as ordinary people, we can also be of help since it is the lives of people that are in danger.

"We need to build on this and make it a turning point in people's understanding not just of the Syria conflict but of the global refugee crisis. It requires us to use not just our hearts but also our heads and not just aid but also diplomacy, and to focus our efforts not just this year, but for years to come," she continued.

The special envoy of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees continued to encourage everyone to give helping hands writing, "We should be conscious of the distinction between economic migrants, who are trying to escape extreme poverty, and refugees who are fleeing an immediate threat to their lives. All people on the move in these tragic circumstances must have their human rights and dignity respected and their needs understood and addressed. We should not stigmatise anyone for the aspiration to a better life.
