Angelina Jolie News: 'Unbroken' Director Talks Inspirations in Life & Overcoming Fears

Angelina Jolie, who recently underwent a surgery to get her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed, recently talked about her innermost fears and getting over them among other inspirational topics.

Jolie underwent a surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes to avoid getting cancer. Reportedly, a small benign tumor was found on one of the ovaries, although there were no signs of cancer, she wrote in her article in the New York Times.

This is Jolie's second such surgery to combat cancer. Two years ago, she underwent a preventative double-mastectomy after a blood test showed a mutation in the BRCA1 gene.

Speaking about her movie "Unbroken' and how she learned to cope with her own problems, by seeking inspiration from the movie, she said, "What has changed the most in my life from knowing and loving such a man as Louie is realizing the strength we possess as individuals," according to People magazine.

"Unbroken,' directed by Jolie, is the story of the Olympic runner turned army veteran, Louis Zamperini, who was captured by the Japanese navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp in the early 1940s.

Talking about Zamperini, she said, "[He] has strengthened my beliefs and taught me to focus on what is important," according to People. She spoke about his life story and experiences have helped her face personal challenges during the past few months.

Speaking about the experience she had undergone, the past few months, she said, "I do believe in the old saying 'What does not kill you makes you stronger.' Our experiences, good and bad, make us who we are. By overcoming difficulties, we gain strength and maturity," according to Elle Magazine.
