Angelina Jolie News: 'Unbroken' Director Named Most Admired Woman in World
Beating Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, Hillary Clinto, Queen Elizabeth II, and even Michelle Obama, actor-director Angelina Jolie has been named the most admired woman in the world.
A report in the Daily Mail says that recently Internet-based market research firm YouGov polled 25,000 people in 23 countries across the globe said that 39-year-old Jolie, a mother of six and a special envoy of the United Nations, was most worthy among women of respect globally.
Jolie's last venture was directing the critically acclaimed film 'Unbroken,' based on the Second World War. The actor-director has been travelling around the world visiting war zones since 2001.
The poll, however, found that Queen Elizabeth II was the favorite of the Britons, who voted her to the top spot nationally, while actress Judi Dench was pushed to the second place.
Globally, people who participated in the YouGuv poll voted 17-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, who survived being shot by the Talban, to the second place, while another Nobel Peace Prize winner and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton rounded out the top three. Interestingly, the results of the poll were different in each of the 23 countries where people were surveyed.
Along with the Queen, the United States First Lady Michelle Obama was also widely admired by people across the world and she came in fifth. Surprisingly enough, singer Celine Dion was ranked sixth, ahead of Oprah Winfrey at seven and Julia Roberts at eighth position among most admired woman.
Burmese pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi was voted the ninth most admired woman globally, while German Chancellor Angela Merkel was voted tenth. Singers Taylor Swift and Beyonce Knowles came close behind the German Chancellor and were voted 11th and 12th most admired globally respectively. Indian leader Sonia Gandhi was voted 13th, while actress Jennifer Lawrence and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton were voted 14th and 15th, respectively, in the worldwide results.
