Android N Update Release Date, Features, News, Rumors: Developer Preview To Run On OEM Partner Devices
In line with the upcoming Android N, it has been revealed that its developer preview is capable of running on partner devices.
Google may allow its Android N's Developer Preview to work on OEM partner devices, according to Android Authority. As per the publication, Reddit user FUNExtreme had a surprising discovery from the HTML code utilized in Google's Android N Preview What's New section.
It has been revealed that the preview has accompanying android beta program for consumers, which begins in the preview at a later time; additional supported devices, such as devices from OEM partners, and some "OTAs" for the users' devices, which start from the initial release to the final N release without flashing.
As per the publication, Google may be planning to link other devices to the Android N Developer Preview Program without having to flash and it is assumed that the concept will be highly embraced by those who are seeking for a Nexus device.
Android N is set to have improved notifications, split-screen mutitasking, enhanced Doze and Project Svelte, and boosted settings, according to GSM Arena. As per the publication, quick shortcuts are present when users pull down the notification shade once. This feature was always present in other OEMs and it replaces the two-time pull down to access the toggles.
Google has also added the split-screen multitasking support in Android N. The user just have to press the multitasking or overview button and drag one of the windows to the top of the screen to pin it. After that, the user selects from other applications to fill the rest of the screen.
Android N has also improved Doze in a pinch, allowing it to terminate background activities when the display is turned off and while the device is not dormant. Also, Project Svelte works by reducing background activities by suppressing network activity and broadcasts. Such features serve as a battery saving mode for the phone, enabling users to use their device for a longer period of time.
The "N" in Android N may stand for Nutella, Nachos, or Nougats, based on Google's former naming trend. The update follows its predecessors, namely, Cupcake, Eclaire, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, Lollipop, and Marshamallow.
Android N is set to be released in May this year.
