Android N Update News: System Update Feature Gives Back To Consumer Power Off Choice?
A new update for the Android N will actually allow the consumer to turn off the automatic system update feature.
"The option to do so is listed under 'Developer Options' where you can simply toggle off 'Automatic system updates,'" reported Android Headlines. "After which, it is presumed you won't automatically receive any notifications about updates until you toggle the feature back on again."
This small addition is good news for Android N users who don't want to be at the mercy of unstable apps and programs forced down their throats through the automatic system update feature.
It must be noted, however, that the Android N is still not final so it's obvious that the auto update feature would be rolled out when the final version is released.
But the article correctly observed that the new update for Android N can be found in "Developer Options," which may mean that it's not intended for all consumers, which would have been the case if the option can be found in the "System Update" part of the Settings.
In other news update for the Android N, The Next Web suggested that the OS may operate a lot like Windows 10.
"The biggest feature in Android N so far is native support for split-screen view, much like snapping programs to the sides in Windows 10," it said.
"Android N's official documentation references a 'freeform' mode, which allows you to resize and move around apps in a windowed form to your liking," the article added, explaining that the update might be targeted more for larger devices.
