Android N Release Date Rumors Update, News: New OS Is Going To Be Released During I/O Event?

Google's Nexus 7 will reportedly have the Android N pre-installed which will be possibly released during the I/O Developers Conference this month, according to the rumors and news updates circulating on the web.

"According to reports, the Android N software will debut on the rumored Nexus device," Christian Times reported. "Another indication is the removal of the current Nexus 9 tablet from the Google Store, which led people to believe that the current tablet model is no longer in production."

There were previous rumors that the Nexus 7, which will feature the Android N, will be the result of the partnership between Taiwanese mobile, Huawei, and Google. This was confirmed by Evan Blass who tweeted, "HTC is building a pair of Android N devices for Google internally dubbed M1 and S1 #nexus."

The release date for the Android N this year coincided with Google's timeline to release a new OS every year.

Hiroshi Lockheimer, Google VP for engineering, said as much during an interview with Fast Company where he said that they are very big on predictability.

"We've landed with sort of a yearly cadence of big releases, so, for instance, one year we release J, the next year we release K, and then the year after that L, and then this year we'll launch M, and so you can predict what will happen next year," he said.

Among the features of the Android N, based on the developer preview and various news reports, are the updated notification panel, improved Doze mode, multi-window option, 3D Touch capability and possibly the VR mode.
