The recent unveiling of the Android Marshmallow update has generated excitement in the tech community, as tech enthusiasts are very eager to see the latest firmware has to offer. However, apparently the Samsung Galaxy S5 is not on the list of devices that will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

According to Christian Today, as far as the roll out of its latest operating system is concerned, apparently Google is currently concentrating on six major points of importance, including app links, control over app permissions, auto backup of phone date onto Google Drive, the mobile payments that are likely to change the manner in which people deal with financial transactions, enhanced power efficiency, and faster phone access using fingerprints.

Thus far, these are just a few of the more prominent features of the Android Marshmallow OS update, and it made more and more people wonder whether or not they will be receiving the update when it is made available.

At present, the focus will be on Samsung device owners. According to latest online rumors, devices are already being lined up to get the Android Marshmallow update when it is ready, and which ones will likely miss out, at least in the beginning.

GSM Arena reports that at present, the list of Samsung devices that are expected to receive the new Android update when it is ready includes the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy Note 4 Duos, the Galaxy Note Edge, the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Duos, the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy ALPHA and the Galaxy Tab A. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that this is not the final list and that some more devices could still be added to the list.

Meanwhile, Android Origin reports that it appears that one Samsung device will not be receiving the Android Marshmallow update and that is the Galaxy S5. If the rumor turns out to be true, then the Galaxy S5 would be the rare Samsung phone to only receive one major update.

The Android Marshmallow update is expected to be released sometime in September.
