Android 5.0 Lollipop Update on HTC One M7 News: Google New OS Comes to T-Mobile Device
Since the beginning of the year, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update has been making its way to phones throughout the world. European phone companies have been the first to receive the update since its release. Sprint is the only US phone carrier to have the update ... that is until HTC made an announcement.
Mo Versi, VP of Product Management of HTC America announced over Twitter that the Lollipop update would be available for all T-Mobile consumers who use the HTC One M7. He said, "HTC One (M7) T-Mobile Owners! We've received technical approval on the L OS and OTA will star on Tuesday."
The update will commence on March 10, and it can be downloaded over user's Wi-Fi or cellular network. The update is expected to first arrive for M7 owners in Europe first. However, Versi and the entire T-Mobile team ensure American users that the update will be available to all very soon.
The HTC One M8, the newest model from the "One" series, and M7 were promised to receive the Lollipop update within 90 days of getting the source code for Google. That was back in the very beginning of February. An official report from HTC told its consumers that Google had been fixing the problems that occurred when launching the update with other devices.
Now that the bugs are all fixed, T-Mobile and its consumers are eager to receive the Lollipop update for their HTC One phones. The update gives Android a completely well-deserved and clean look. Some of the new features include tap and go, Ok Google, ambient display, face unlock, lock screen notifications, priority and guest mode, pin apps, Overview and improved Quick Settings.
