Android Auto Update and News: Now Works In Any Car; New Sync Features

Google just launched a huge Android Auto update, which now allows owners to sync their phones with their cars for more direct access to necessary information without compromising driving safety.

According to the Google blog, as of today, there are now more than 200 cars representing 50 brands that are supported by the Android Auto update. But the company is not done with its update as it promises to include more manufacturers in the future.

One of the more novel additions to the Android Auto update is to include older car models without LCD screens.

"This update allows anyone with an Android phone (running 5.0 or later) to use a driver friendly interface to access the key stuff you need on the road - directions, music, communications - without the distraction of things that aren't essential while driving," it said.

Through hands-free commands, you can check your music or maps, which would be downright convenient when your hands are both on the wheel and you need to navigate through an unfamiliar place.

The description of the Android Auto update read, "Android Auto brings the most useful apps from your phone to your car's screen, optimized for glanceability and readability while driving. Android Auto requires an active data connection to fully utilize these apps and may require updates to some of your existing apps, such as Google Maps, Google Play Music, or the Google Search app."

To know whether your car or phone is eligible for the latest Android Auto update, you can contact your dealer or visit the official Android Auto website.
