Android 7.0 Nougat Update News, Rumors: Google Still On Target For Summer Launch?

Google is already on its fifth and final beta phase for the Android 7.0 Nougat, which means it's still on track to meet its earlier announcement of a summer release date coinciding with the launch of the Nexus phone.

Depending on where you are, summer in North America may start from April or May and last until early October. States located in the north may start in June until late August.

Tipster Evan Blass set the Internet on fire when he reported that the Android 7.0 Nougat will roll out in August. He later clarified that it's the security update for the OS that was scheduled to come out.

It's not clear how many of users will switch to Android 7.0 Nougat. Historically, users don't really update their OS that much compared to Apple owners. For example, only 1 in 10 of users is using Marshmallow, said the news from Google's Usage Page.

The biggest number of users seems to be running Android 4.4 KitKat, which is about 31.6 percent.

With the beta 5, developers will get to play around with Doze on the Go, multi-window support, direct boot, screen zoom, new emojis, background optimization, permission changes and notification enhancement.

The final beta preview also includes an emulator to test developers' apps, bug fixes and preinstalled apps, system images for Nexus, API level 24 and latest UI, the Android blog revealed. The update will only be available  for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Nexus 6 and Pixel C.

Watch out for more news and rumors on the Android 7.0 Nougat update schedule, which will be published here when they come along.
