Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update, Features: New Samsung Galaxy Devices To Be Available For Update

A lot of Samsung Galaxy users are growing impatient on the Android Marshmallow update. It has been almost half a year since Google rolled out its Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system but Samsung may have been taking too much time to put their devices on the the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update.

According to Gotta Be Mobile, the Galaxy S6 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update will become available for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus in Korea, India, the United Kingdom, Austria, Russia, Iraq and the Netherlands, Afghanistan, Croatia, Germany, Czech Republic, Nigeria, Pakistan, Italy, Macedonia, Spain and in a couple more countries around the world.

Sprint, who is in business with Verizon and T-Mobile is now pushing the Android 6.0.1 update to be available for the Galaxy S6 Plus. In Canada, VideoTron and Eastlink are also trying to provide the same for their customers.

It was also reported by the site that the update will feature the following:

  • Additional quick settings toggles for Private Mode in the status bar.
  • New emoji characters (Android 6.0.1 brought more than 200 to Nexus users).
  • Improved visibility of notification panel icons.
  • If a fingerprint isn't recognized, users will only get vibration feedback.
  • A new 'Install overnight' option that will install an update at night between 2 to 5 AM.

The update will also be available in older devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A8, Galaxy Alpha, and Galaxy Tab S2. Also, the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will both run on the Android 6.0.1 software.
