Android 5.1 Lollipop Update News: Google Makes New Mobile OS Available for LTE Nexus 7 (2013)
Five weeks ago, Google announced the release of the Android 5.1 operating system, also called Lollipop. Since that time, the system update has been unavailable for many of Mountain View's Nexus devices.
However, LTE Nexus 7 (2013) users will be able to experience the new operating system, as of Tuesday.
There is still no WiFi version of the software, for the device, though. Usually, LTE versions of tablets are the last to receive WiFi versions of updates, but the LTE is first this time. Android 5.1 has a lot of fixes for bugs and memory leak issues.
It also has better notifications, with added quick settings and animation tweaks. The OTA is slightly more than 200 MB and will be an upgrade from Android 5.0.2. This update has already been made available for the Nexus 10 and WiFi equipped Nexus 7 models.
Hopefully, the time lapse between releases pf the software update for various systems has given Google enough time to fix all of the bugs that many users have been complaining about.
Users have the option of manually installing and applying the update themselves, or waiting for the official release to begin.
While there has been no official word about when Google will begin pushing the new software update, it should not be too far in the near future.
Those people with the 4g LTE equipped Nexus 7 or Nexus 2013, will eventually be able to benefit from the update, which is all that has really been confirmed so far.
At this point, however, almost all Nexus devices have begun to receive the update, which means that it is only a matter of time before all the device are updated as well.
