Android 5.1 Lollipop Release Date: Google Plans to Launch Bug Fixes in Summer

As Google plans to release their Android 5.1 version of Lollipop in the summer of 2015, many sources are saying that some of the bugs in the 5.0 version will be difficult to overlook for the time being.

However, Android 5.1 Lollipop will reportedly be available first to a small number of users in February before it will be released to all major Android gadget owners in June or July.

The release of Android 5.0 Lollipop was criticized due to some bugs that were not fixed. Google is reportedly planning to compensate the unstable update with the release of Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The bug fixes that will be available include silent mode, which became unavailable after updating to Android 5.0. Other fixes that comes with the update are reported by Android Pit.

Bug Fixes List:

General improvements in system stability

Improved RAM management

Fixes for sudden app closures

Improved battery management

Excessive consumption of network devices when used Wi-Fi fixed

Issues with wireless connections fixed

Problems with Okay Google function solved

Notifications problems solved

Some sound problems experience by certain devices fixed

Other improvements and changes

Changes in the Material Design color palette (after users complaints, possibly for a higher version though)

The bug fixes are promising, but not all users will immediately enjoy the benefits. Updating devices with Android 5.0 Lollipop requires an agreement between Google, handset manufacturer, and carrier.

This may take a long time given that there are already a lot of bugs to be fixed. Samsung has only rolled out Android 5.0 to Galaxy owners in the middle of December. The company gained the highest sales for Google certified Android devices.

Google has compensated the long wait by using Google Play Services to update apps and system functions. However, most users choose to buy smartphones with the latest software than to wait for updates.

While other users are waiting for Android 5.1 Lollipop, the Android 5.0.2 may come in handy since Google has started rolling out the update for Nexus 7 devices.
