Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update News: Google Rolls Out Latest OS for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 9 LTE

Google has begun to roll out their Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 9 LTE tablet.

This rollout is beginning nearly one month after Google published the Android 5.1.1 factory images for the Nexus Player. The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will offer performance improvements, as well as corrections of stability and bug fixes.

Some users say that they have already begun to receive the Android 5.1.1 update notification.

These include consumers using the LG Nexus with the build number LMY47V, the LG Nexus 5 with the build number LMY48B, and HTC Nexus 9 LTE with the build number LRX22L.

Google has just begun to push the over the air update to the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 smartphones and the Nexus 9 LTE tablet.

This means that users can expect the rollout to be completed globally within a few weeks. Once the update is available for your device, either the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 or Nexus 9 LTE tablet, it will show up as a system notification.

As an alternative, users can check for it manually by going to Settings>About Phone>System Updates, or they can download the zipped and Google signed OTA update file, which has been made available by those users who have already received the update.

The main expectation of this new update will fix the memory leak issue, which cause problems for users with Android 5.0 Lollipop and even some with Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Last month, there was a developer changelog for Android 5.1.1 source code, which had a total of 34 commits.

Most of the commits were changes to core operating system functions or for telephony and media decoding.
