Android 5.0 Lollipop Update on Nexus 7: Bugs & Problems, Nexus 7 Users Most Affected

As Google has finally released the highly-anticipated Android 5.0 or Lollipop OS, some users have reported that they are somewhat disappointed with the new operating system, especially Nexus 7 users.

Favorable reviews from experts notwithstanding, it is apparent that Android 5.0 has been causing major problems for some users since they received the latest OS update. While several users have been reporting problems with Wi-Fi connectivity, there are others who complain that sometimes it completely disconnects the audio.

These problems are experienced by users irrespective of their device, but they are especially severe with those using the 2012 Nexus 7 tablet.

Latin Post quotes a Steve Western discussion on Google's product forums that the Lollipop has ruined the Nexus 7, as it has made the device unusable.

Similarly Gary Looker said via BBC, "Updated and the Nexus is [so] shockingly bad it is basically unusable, lags just rotating the screen, every task takes 10 seconds to perform if it does it [at all]."

He added, "I've turned off Google Now, changed transitions to zero and limited it to two background apps maximum like the good people here suggested. I shouldn't have to do that, and many people won't know where to turn or who to listen to."

The website goes on to quote Adobe project manager Chris Campbell saying, "We were previously unaware of this bug and contrary to other reports, were not working with Google on a fix."

Campbell went on to say, "However, we are working with Google on another self-signed certificate issue that is impacting in-app purchases. It's possible the two are related, but we do not have enough information at this time to determine one way or the other. That said, we'll be escalating this issue with Google immediately."

There are some other issues too. It has been found that sometimes the device suffers from looped UI crashes while charging when users change the language setting to French or Canadian.

While the Android 5.0 Lollipop has received some great reviews across the board, the tremendously creative new features have apparently not been availed by all Android users. Nevertheless, it is expected that Google and Adobe will soon release patches to fix these issues.
