Android 5.0 Lollipop Update on Moto X, Moto G Devices News & More; How to Manually Update?

Motorola has made the latest Google update, the Android 5.0 Lollipop, available on some of their handsets, such as the Moto X and Moto G.

"Get ready for something sweet! Android 5.0, Lollipop is officially here for some of our Motorola devices!" Motorola announced on its official blog on Nov. 12, Wednesday. They introduced the enhancements from Google, such as the Material Design that showcased a new visual style and new colors, typography and imagery, and a Guest mode for those who shared their devices, allowing others to access only a limited number of apps.

The new Downtime and Interruption settings allows users to check their notifications from the lock screen of their phones, while the flashlight could be turned on and off by swiping down with two fingers. An update to the phone's battery settings also allows users to see how much battery life remains on the device and enables a battery saver mode to reduce the phone's performance to background data operations to extend the battery life.

According to the blog post, the updates will be available for second generation devices, such as Moto X Pure Edition, Moto G US GSM, and Moto G Global SSM retail versions.

Other phones where the Android Lollipop will be made available include the Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini, according to a previous announcement in October that Motorola made through their blog.

They have also launched a tracking page for customers to check when the Android Lollipop is available in their particular phone, and a support page to find out more about these new features and how to use them.

Users can wait for a system update message to show up in their notifications or perform a manual check if they want to by choosing Settings > About Phone > Software Updates > Check Now.
