Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S5, LG G3 Release Date Information
Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy S5, and LG G3 can finally rest assured that they will be receiving the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update for their devices, as a new report has been released; confirming the news.
French carrier Club SFR, recently published a table identifying all of the smartphones that will receive the update. According to the report, Android 5.0 Lollipop will be available for Samsung Galaxy S5 this December, while the Note 4 will have the update in January, 2015.
However, the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update has already been released on a few devices such as the HTC One series, Nexus series, and the Moto X, Moto G and Moto E.
It was also reported that other Samsung devices like Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 would receive an update but it would take some additional time.
One the other hand, there's a user who claimed that he had updated his Sprint Galaxy S5 with the new OS unofficially. The user called Garwyn, posted his findings on XDA Developers forum. He said that he's had the experience in testing the "calls, SMS and other functions and they seem to work."
He also gave a detailed step-by-step process on how other users can do it on their end. But, he said that if others will follow this, they will have to do it at their "own risk without official support available." He added that this will only work if the Galaxy S5 is Sprint-supported.
Note that he used an unofficial update for the device and any user who attempts this should do so at their own risk. Unless a user is extremely proficient in smartphone software, he or she should refrain from the unoffical update, and wait for the official OS release.
