Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update: Samsung Galaxy S3 Gets New Firmware Update and Numerous Bug Fixes
Even as the tech enthusiasts are excited over the release of iOS 8, Apple's latest mobile operating system, and the impending release of Google's Android 5.0 L, Android KitKat 4.4.4 is being released for Android compatible smartphones across the globe. Now, the Samsung Galaxy S3 together with the Galxay S4 and Galaxy Note 2 will be receiving the KitKat update.
The Android 4.4.4 Kitkat update was released together with the 4.4.3 update in recent weeks. Basically, both these updates are bug fixes to the much troubled 4.4.2 update and were rolled out on all Android compatible phones so far. Nevertheless, many phones have received these updates and it seems that the Galaxy S3 is one of the phones which will be getting the updates now.
The update for the Galaxy 3 is a hefty 1.6GB and offers bug fixes to the 4.4.2 update as well as a number of changes to some features too.
Among the changes that the 4.4.4 update has brought to the Galaxy S3 is the change for TouchWiz. While several users had hoped that it would be the Galaxy S5 design, unfortunately it wasn't. However, there are significant differences for a few functions.
It has brought new lock screen music controls, and now the color of all icons are gray, a change from the previous three colors - green, orange, and gray.
Moreover, some stock apps have received a complete user interface overhaul or an upgrade.
Obviously, the update has also brought some new features, for instance location settings as well as the ability to choose the user's default launcher and messaging app.
