'America's Got Talent' News Update: VanderWaal, Clairvoyants And Tape Face To Perform At Planet Hollywood
The judges and viewers of "America's Got Talent" season 11 had a tough time picking the top three finalists, but in the end, it was the 12-year-old Grace VanderWaal who took home the $1 million prize.
The young contender from New York started making songs when she was only three and has been playing the piano since she was only four. She stole the heart of the judges with her passion for music, which she has never failed to showcase since the beginning of the competition.
VanderWaal played saxophone in her school's marching band when she was 10. At 11, she started watching YouTube videos to learn how to play the ukulele which she got as a birthday gift. Her talent and charm allowed her to go all the way to the top without giving her runners-up a chance.
According to reports, the top three winners, including VanderWaal, the Clairvoyants and Tape Face, will stage a show at Planet Hollywood Showroom starting Thursday through Sunday. Ticket sales for "America's Got Talent Live" have reportedly been so strong that the producers of the show have decided to add a fourth night. As of this writing, all four shows are already sold out.
While it was Grace who won the $1 million prize, it was Thommy Ten and Amelie van Taas who got the first standing ovation from the four celebrity judges. Their appearance at Planet Hollywood this weekend is a Las Vegas exclusive, but they hope to be able to return in the future for another show.
In a statement, an "America's Got Talent" executive told Review Journal, "Ticket sales went through the roof for this year's show. It's a combination of the singing, magic and comedy. We've never had a season like this one. We had to add the show because of the demand and could probably have run for a week more. It's been a great problem to have."
