American Idol Season 13 Judges Harry Connick Jr, Keith Urban & Jennifer Lopez Officially Announced, New Episodes Air Jan 2014
"American Idol" has made it official that Harry Connick Jr, Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez will be the three judges for the upcoming Season 13 of American Idol.
Keith Urban is the only returning judge from last season as Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj exit as well as original judge Randy Jackson.
Jennifer Lopez will begin her second stint on "American Idol" as judge which has been reported for a while now along with Urban's return.
The big question mark was who would be the final judge with Urban and Lopez. Will.i.am turned down the spot, along with several others leading them to Harry Connick Jr.
Connick Jr. has appeared on the show several times and definitely has the musical pedigree to be a judge on the show. He has a strong fan following, it will be interesting to see if he can draw in the younger viewers that typically watch "American Idol". With that said, there are a lot of older women who watch the show as well who will love the combo of Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban together.
Ryan Seacrest will be back hosting again this year. No matter what changes are made, it seems evident that "American Idol" has lost it's edge has the favorite with "The Voice" taking its TV crown. The talent was incredible this past season with Angie Miller, Candice Glover and Kree Harrison and still ratings were down and ticket sales for the Idol Tour have been very sub-par. So there might not be anything to do at this point to change the ratings. We will see what happens.
What do you think of the new judging panel?
