'American Idol' Judges Fired? Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey Getting the Boot After Season 12 [PHOTOS}

American Idol 2013 update!

Well actually more like an American Idol 2014 update. It looks like Idol needs a make over; at least with the judge panel. Randy Jackson is the first Idol judge to confirm he is in fact leaving the show after this year. Jackson, who has been with the show all 12 seasons [remember Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul?] will not return for Americna Idol Season 13. In fact reports are surfacing that all of the American Idol judges are getting the boot. That means no more "summer breeze" metaphors from Keith Urban, no more cleavage from Nicki Minaj, no more "dude" from Randy Jackson and no more "dahling" from Maria Carey.

Well when you put it that way it doesn't sound so bad. Maybe I'd actually watch the show.

With ratings continuing to suffer [mainly because everybody's on NBC watching The Voice] the over a decade long reality show seems out of date. These days American Idol feels more like a beauty pageant on steroids than a relevant insight into the American music business. Though the show's ratings are dwindling, Idol alum continue to dominate album sales and radio waves. Last year's winner Phillip Phillips' debut single "Home" went triple platinum in the U.S. and dominated charts all over the world.

It's an interest parallel. As American Idol, the show loses touch with the American public, Idol winners continue to connect even stronger. Who knows maybe the only people buying their records are the people that actually watch the show.

Tune in tonight for what could be Idol judges Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey's next to last show as part of the panel. On tonight's episode we'll find out which two singers will compete in the American Idol 2013 Season 12 finale next week.
