'American Horror Story' Season 6 News, Spoilers: Next Season Features Character Crossovers; ‘Precious’ Actress Gabourey Sidibe Joining Cast

Along with previous revelation that "American Horror Story" season 6 is likely to feature juvenile characters, it has been revealed that it is also set to present character crossovers and "Precious" actress Gabourey Sidibe joining the show's cast.

"American Horror Story" season 6 showrunner Ryan Murphy has shared his ideas on how character mix-up is going to be utilized in the series. In his interview with Pop Sugar, Murphy said that the deeper they went into the series, hopefully, they would last decades and decades, with fans seeing that there was a definite universe and all the worlds were collided, sometimes in a very bizarre and interesting manner.

Murphy's statement reflects his desire of connecting the characters and storylines of "Murder House" and "Hotel," which allows fans and viewers to see the relationship between two worlds, two sets of characters, and two sets of events, in one season.

Along with this intertwining of events, "American Horror Story" season 6 is also rumored to be set in an orphanage, since the series is reportedly going to feature children. In his interview with TV Line, Murphy said that if one looked at horror tropes, the innocence of children, which he described as a "wide-eyed entryway" into some world, was always very dramatic and satisfying.

In other news, "Precious" star Sidibe has joined the cast ensemble of "American Horror Story" season 6. According to Bustle, the actress must have enjoyed being on the show and Murphy must have liked having her on the show as well. Aside from Lee Daniels' drama film "Precious," Sidibe is also known for her roles in Martin McDonagh's comedy crime film "Seven Psychopaths," Brett Ratner's action crime comedy "Tower Heist," and Gregg Araki's drama mystery thriller film "White Bird in a Blizzard."

Along with Sidibe, the series is also set to star Lady Gaga, Wes Bentley, Angela Bassett, Matt Bomer, Denis O'Hare, Finn Wittrock, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, and Cheyenne Jackson, among others.

"American Horror Story" season 6 is expected to premiere in October this year.
