'American Horror Story' Season 6: New Teaser Video Adds To Mystery Of New Season
"American Horror Story" continues to get more people buzzing about its return for season 6.
On Aug. 12, the show unveiled yet another creepy teaser for its new season, which adds to the mystery of the upcoming series.
The teaser video shows a woman wearing a vintage robe, heading up a staircase with a candle in her hand. The spine-tingling thing about this image is that a shadow with gangly, skeletal fingers that is reminiscent of the 1922's "Nosferatu" emerges behind her and grabs her braid. Her squeal cuts to the signature "6?" title card, suggesting the involvement of the devil in the upcoming season.
The new teaser was released days after FX president John Landgraf revealed during the Television Critics Association summer press tour that only one of the final teasers actually depicts the season 6 theme, while the others are just meant to confuse viewers.
"We just thought it would be really fun to keep it a mystery," he said, according to Variety. He revealed that their marketing team has come up with a mess of trailers for "hypothetical seasons of 'American Horror Story,'" when only one of them is a legit representation of the upcoming season.
Previously released teasers featured a farmhouse, a man getting his head tacked somewhere, a crib, someone descending a staircase into darkness, and some bugs. Fans of the series have yet to know which of these teasers, the most recent one included, is the legit one and which are mere misdirects.
"American Horror Story" season 6 premieres on Sept. 14, 10:00 p.m. on FX.
