'American Horror Story' Season 5 Spoilers, News: Lady Gaga to Portray Hotel Owner Elizabeth

The highly acclaimed 'American Horror Story' has a new setting and tells a new story every season with several actors returning to portray completely different characters. The latest edition to the cast of the mini series is Lady Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotta). A recent report now reveals the precise role that the singer will be playing in the fifth installment of the series, titled 'Hotel.'

Quoting a report from the BBC, IB Times states that series creator Ryan Murphy revealed Lady Gaga's character at a panel at the Television Critics Association. According to Murphy, the singer will be portraying a character named Elizabeth, who owns the hotel.

Talking about Lady Gaga's character, Murphy said, "She owns the hotel and she is sort of a very wealthy social doyenne who is consumed with art and fashion and people," adding,"She has a nefarious plan that is revealed in the first episode that plays out over the course of the season."

A doyenne is a respected woman in a specific field, suggesting that Elizabeth is not a small-time hotel owner. It is also evident in her social circle, which includes the character Ramona Royale (Angela Bassett), a Hollywood actress with close ties to Elizabeth.

However, Elizabeth's "nefarious plan" continues to be a mystery, but considering the manner in which the character is passionate about art and fashion, it may perhaps have something to do with nearly all her tenants who are upper class citizens, for instance, Ramona and John Huges (Evan Peters), who is portrayed as person focused on his business.

Meanwhile, Out.com reports that Elizabeth will be in a relationship with Donovan (Matt Bomer). The further states that Elizabeth, Donovan, and Tristan Duffy (Finn Wittrock) will get enmeshed in a love triangle.

While Lady Gaga earlier appeared in the 2014 film 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For' and also did a cameo in 'Machete Kills,' 'American Horror Story' will be her first major acting role.

'American Horror Story: Hotel' will premiere on FX this Oct. 7.
