'American Horror Story: Hotel' Cast News: Kathy Bates Takes on the Role as Hotel Manager

"American Horror Story: Hotel" co-creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Kathy Bates will be returning to the drama to star in the fifth season as the owner of the hotel.

The actress, who has starred in The Blind Side and Midnight in Paris, had appeared previously in the "Coven" and "Freak Show" seasons of the anthology series.

In "Coven," she played Louisiana born serial killer, Madame Delphine LaLaurie and earned an Emmy for supporting actress in a TV movie or miniseries. In "Freak Show," she played Ethel Darling, the bearded lady.

The actress is well known for her role as a crazy nurse in the 1990 film Misery for which she won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.

She is one of only a few of the actors and actresses from the past series to confirm her return to the show.

Fans still await the news of whether other actors, such as Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, Dennis O'Hare and Lily Rabe will be coming back for the new series, "Hotel."

Jessica Lange who has been in every series of the drama since it began confirmed that she would be leaving the show last month.

Murphy has confirmed that Chloe Sevigny will return, and she and Bates will be joining a cast that already includes Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Wes Bentley and Cheyenne Jackson.

The new season of American Horror Story is expected to air on the small screen in October.
