'American Dad' TBS Renewed for New Season: Network Orders 22 Episodes Airs Monday Nights (Time Details)

News has just broke that Twentieth Century Fox Television's animated hit series, 'American Dad!' will be renewed for 22 more episodes. While the series originally aired on Fox network, it's found a new home on the TBS network and is broadcast on Monday nights at 9 pm.

Originally, the series was created by Seth MacFarlane, Matt Weitzman, and Mike Barker. However, since the series has swapped over to a new network, MacFarlane, Weitzman and new showrunner Brian Boyle are in charge.

On a side note, while the show airs on TBS, Adult Swim plays encores of all the new episodes that are broadcast.

Stepping into some statistics, it's no surprise that TBS would want to order more episodes of the show, as it's very popular. 'American Dad!' is ranked as one of basic cable's top three programs in the Monday night 9 pm time slot (in the adults 18-34 demographic).

The current season on TBS, which is the first season to air on the network, averages 3.1 million viewers for each week's premiere on TBS, in addition to to extra showing on Adult Swim.

In regards to the renewal of 'American Dad!' Deborah K. Bradley, who's the Executive VP, head of program acquisitions, content strategy and licensing for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. had a few words to say in a release.

Bradley said, "We are thrilled with American Dad!'s performance to date and are confident the show is going to continue its tremendous success."

Adding, "By ordering a new season while the current season is early in its run, we're ensuring that Seth MacFarlane and his team will have the freedom to take the misadventures of the CIA agent Stan Smith and his family to a whole new level."

Even as the show has switched networks entirely, that did not seem to slow down the show's roll in the slightest. Jonnie Davis, Twentieth Century Fox Television president of creative affairs, had something to say about that in a press release.

Davis said, "TBS has been a spectacular home for this terrific series, and its continued success is a testament to the brilliance of the show, as well as the passion of the network."

Evidently, 'American Dad!' is here to stay, as it's arguably one of the more popular shows currently airing on TV, and surely fans hope more episodes and seasons are ordered in the coming years.
