AMD Radeon Pro SSG: High-End Specs To Bring VR Technology To Another Level?
The AMD may have taken its sweet time in introducing new graphic cards. The manufacturer, however, certainly made the two-year wait worth it with the introduction of the Radeon Pro SSG which will bring VR technology to another level.
Basically, this new set of graphic cards combines two M.2 slots for the SSD cards. The computer's GPU may utilize these cards up to 1 terabyte of flash memory. That solves a lot of problem for both animators and the VR game developers.
According to Ars Technica, the heavy-duty specs of the AMD Radeon Pro SSG might be a tad overkill for ordinary gamers, but it's certainly welcome news for animators who typically render 64 GB per frame, when cards can only max about half that capacity.
With the new chip, AMD has found a way around this problem by making available two M.2 slots that will allows the NAND flash to reach 1 TB.
There are in fact three graphic cards that are being released, according to the news report. These are the WX 7100, WX 5100 and WX 4100.
PC World said that the AMD Radeon Pro SSG can very well run 8K videos without much effort, even with the very large demand from its 33 megapixel resolution. In contrast, a 4K only has about 8.3 megapixels. The product manages to do this by bypassing the CPU altogether, which lessens latency. For now, there's little news on what else the AMD Radeon Pro SSG has to offer other than being faster and more powerful.
The company is expected to reveal more in the coming days.
