Amazon Prime August 2016: Amazon Airs Adds More Titles; 'Inside Llewyn Davis,' 'A Clockwork Orange' and 'The Matrix'
Amazon Prime Video has released the titles of its cinematic classics fans can enjoy in August.
Amazon is set to air classics, which include "Inside Llewyn Davis," "A Clockwork Orange," and "The Matrix," The Verge has learned. As per the publication, the latter is set to have two sequels.
Initially released in 2013, Ethan Coen and Joel Coen's musical drama "Inside Llewyn Davis" is set in 1961 New York and follows folk singer and guitarist Davis, played by "X-Men: Apocalypse" actor Oscar Isaac. As per IGN, the character faces various obstacles and struggles to go beyond them, leading him to meet a music mogul who will give him the biggest break he ever wanted.
On the other hand, "A Clockwork Orange" is based on the 1962 novel "A Clockwork Orange," authored by Anthony Burgess. Set in 1971 Britain, it features a dystopian settting, as manifested by disturbing and violent concepts related to juvinile delinquency, psychiatry, and various socio-politico-economic themes.
The crime film follows "The Artist" and "Halloween" star Malcolm McDowell as Alex, a charismatic, but sociopathic delinquent who loves a blend of classical music, rape, and ultra-violence.
Meanwhile, "The Matrix" was one of the iconic science-fiction films in 1999. Directed by Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowsky, the film is set in a dystopian future in which the reality seen by most people is actually a simulated reality called "The Matrix." The film stars Keanu Reeves as Thomas Anderson, also known as Neo, a computer programmer living a double life.
"The Matrix" also popularized the visual effect called "bullet time," which features a certain action within a shot in slow-motion while the camera appears to move through the scene at normal speed.
"Inside Llewyn Davis," "A Clockwork Orange," and "The Matrix" are set to air on Aug. 1.
