Amazon Echo News & Update: Smart Speaker Drops In UK On Sept. 14?
An e-commerce company is reportedly sending out invites to media to a big UK reveal on Sept. 14, which fans took to mean as news for the launch of its smart speaker, the Amazon Echo.
Stuff magazine said that if the news is true, this would be a long time coming for the speaker since the Amazon Echo was already launched in the US in the early part of 2015. In fact, there are already three models-the Echo Dot, the Echo Tap and the original Echo.
The event will be held in London and the company is going all hush-hush about the whole thing.
However, even if it's going to be launched on that date, there's no news about the commercial availability of the Amazon Echo in the UK yet, nor is there any details about the price.
The Amazon Echo is highly anticipated in the UK considering the hype surrounding the device.
Basically, what it does is allow the user to control the speaker through the mounted microphone. Just like Siri, but only if the voice assistant is a speaker. You can set reminders, make inquiries, play music and even order a product from Amazon.
There are also third-party apps that are designed exclusively for the Amazon Echo, so if you are more comfortable with the Spotify, you don't have to be stuck with the Amazon Music, said the report. Uber is also integrated to the speaker so you can make reservations from the handy device.
Watch out for more news about the Amazon Echo which will be published here when they come along, ahead of the anticipated even on Sept. 14.
