In a previous news report, Amazon Bookstores bared plans to open more physical retail stores in Portland and Chicago.

Bass said that the retail bookstore in Chicago is scheduled to open in 2017. If all the plans push through, that will bring the total Amazon Bookstores in the US to six. From the original Seattle location, there is also the pipelined project in Portland, Chicago, San Diego, New York City and now Denham.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos told shareholders during the annual conference call that they are indeed planning to open more Amazon Bookstores throughout the country. However, he did not go to specifics.

"In these early days it's all about learning, rather than trying to earn a lot of revenue," he said.

The concept of the Amazon Bookstores is certainly different from your usual bookstore. For instance, it has been revealed that the books will be displaced face out, along with the customer rating and Amazon review. Customers can also buy Kindle, Fire TV and Fire Tablet and Echo in the stores.
